US President Donald Trump announced a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine covering energy infrastructure, saying it was "effective immediately." The announcement was a surprise: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he was still waiting for details of the deal.
No terms have been published. A Financial Times report says Washington is threatening to halt the weapons procurement system that supplies Ukraine, to press Kyiv to stop its deep strikes on Russian energy infrastructure.
If it holds, the deal would limit attacks on power and oil facilities, which both sides have targeted.
