Reddit will end support for RSS feeds on November 13, 2026, and shut down public API access in March 2027. The company says RSS has become a "common surface for large-scale scraping and automated abuse."
Third-party apps can keep working only if their developers register by January 12, 2027. Old Reddit will also require six months of recent activity. Moderators who relied on RSS for community alerts get the Discord Relay Devvit app as a replacement, and AI products that need Reddit data are pointed to commercial licensing deals.
The changes hit social listening tools, academic researchers and AI assistants that pull Reddit conversations programmatically. Reddit acknowledged that "RSS has been a beloved part of the open web for a long time."
