Apple began rolling out iOS 27 on September 14, alongside iPadOS 27, watchOS 27 and macOS 27 "Golden Gate," headlined by the long-delayed Siri AI overhaul. The new assistant moves out of its old voice-only interface into a dedicated app, letting users type, review past conversations and ask follow-up questions.

Under the hood, Apple partnered with Google to weave Gemini models into Siri AI, giving it the ability to hold multi-step conversations and pull context from Messages, Mail and Journal to complete complex requests. Early testers said the assistant could answer complex questions and carry out multi-step prompts its predecessor could not handle.

The full Siri AI experience requires an iPhone 15 Pro or newer, while iPhone 17 and later models get enhanced on-device speech recognition. The update also brings refinements to Apple's Liquid Glass design, expanded parental controls, and new child-safety features across iOS, iPadOS and macOS.
