Amazon announced it will grow its Prime Air drone delivery service sixfold, reaching nearly 500 cities and towns across the United States by the end of 2026. The company currently operates in 11 locations across 7 states — Arizona, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Nebraska, and Texas — and will soon add the metro areas of Chicago, Cleveland, Atlanta, Syracuse, and Boise.

David Carbon, VP of Prime Air, said Amazon has already delivered hundreds of thousands of packages by drone this year, with thousands completed daily. Deliveries arrive in as fast as 30 minutes for eligible items — about 60% of frequently purchased products that are 5 lbs or under and shoebox-sized.

Pricing favors Prime members: free on orders of $50 or more, $2.99 below that threshold, while non-members pay $4.99. The expansion marks one of the largest scale-ups yet for drone delivery in the US, as Amazon pushes to normalize aerial logistics for everyday shopping.
