Roblox began public alpha testing of Build, a mobile-first AI tool that turns plain-language prompts into playable games, on July 28. The rollout starts in New Zealand on iPhone and iPad before expanding to more regions in the coming months.
Typing a prompt like "a cozy adventure game set in a dense forest" generates a working starting point complete with mechanics, environments, characters, and sound, which creators can then edit and playtest without writing code. Age-verified users nine and older can create with Build, while games must pass a safety review before age-verified users 16 and up can play them worldwide.
A base version of Build is free, with paid options planned for power users. The launch follows Roblox's push to make AI-assisted creation central to its platform as it competes for the next generation of young developers and players.
