Erlangen-based Quint Computing has raised €9.1 million in a first funding round led by Vsquared Ventures. Quantonation, Nucleus Capital, Faber, Vanagon Ventures and ZOHO.VC also invested, and the startup received a €2.2 million Pathfinder grant from the European Innovation Council.

Founded in October 2025 by Prof. Michael Hartmann, Prof. Christopher Eichler and economist Dr Jona Stinner, the company spun out of research at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. It is developing a superconducting quantum chip with a patented architecture that prevents a significant share of errors at the hardware level.

Quint claims that once fully implemented, the design could cut system complexity, hardware requirements and energy use by a factor of 100 while keeping high clock speed. The money will fund hiring in chip design, fabrication and error correction, and first industrial deployments in pharmaceuticals, chemicals, logistics and manufacturing.
