Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg said on the company's Q3 2026 earnings call that "Threads has now overtaken X in monthly actives and continues to grow quickly." He did not give a monthly user figure for either platform, so the claim cannot be independently checked.
CFO Susan Li said time spent per user on Threads grew more than 20% year over year. Instagram time spent per user hit an all-time high, and Facebook Reels time spent also reached record levels. Meta's apps reached 3.64 billion daily active people in September, up 3% from a year earlier.
Meta reported Q3 revenue of $64.6 billion and an operating profit of just under $13 billion, after a $9.89 billion charge for a settlement over teen mental health and social media litigation.
