Apple used its "Welcome Home" event on October 13 to launch HomeView, its first smart home hub. The $299 device has a tilting 7-inch touchscreen, a 12MP camera for FaceTime, Siri AI, and face recognition for up to six household members. It comes as a countertop model or a wall mount; pre-orders are open and shipping starts November 13.
Apple also introduced a new Apple TV 4K with the A19 chip at $299 ($100 more than before) and the HomePod mini 2 at $149. Siri AI on the HomePod mini 2 will arrive in a later software update.
A new Apple Home Collection with LG and Schneider adds cameras ($200-$400), a $250 video doorbell, a $350 Matter-compatible smart deadbolt and $200 thermostats, some shipping in December and others in early 2027. It matters because it is Apple's most direct push yet into the smart home market.
