Applied Digital confirmed it will build its $3.2 billion Delta Forge 2 AI data center campus in Brookwood, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama. The project, funded by the company and its tenant, covers about 1.26 million square feet on a site of nearly 1,300 acres. Construction is scheduled to begin October 1, 2026, with completion targeted for the end of 2028.
The build is expected to employ more than 1,000 construction workers at its peak and create about 100 permanent jobs. Applied Digital has committed $270 million in community benefit payments to the Tuscaloosa County Economic Development Authority over 20 years, and the project is projected to generate about $131.5 million in education taxes over the same period.
Delta Forge 2 is the latest of Applied Digital's AI Factory campuses as the former crypto-hosting firm pivots to AI and high-performance computing. Brookwood Mayor Joe Barger said the project will affect not just the city but the whole state.
