A US intelligence memo circulated earlier this year claims China's Ministry of State Security recruited Alice Huang, an executive at Singapore-based Megaspeed, to spy on Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang. The New York Times first reported on the memo, which it said was based on US intelligence. TechCrunch relayed the reports and did not verify the memo independently.
Nvidia told the Times that Jensen Huang's interactions with Alice Huang were "not unusual" and that the company does not share classified information with customers.
A separate New York Times report looked at New Matrix, a Chinese company the US Commerce Department authorized to buy advanced Nvidia chips. Reporters found only "a hollow gray shell" at its listed address, raising concern it could be a front for a blacklisted private equity firm. Nvidia said it sells the best of its technology in America.
