OpenAI co-founder and president Greg Brockman said the company could be ready for an IPO in 2027. Asked at a Wall Street Journal tech conference whether OpenAI would be IPO-ready next year, he answered: "I think so. Yes." OpenAI has said it will go public when the timing is right for it.

Brockman called the first two quarters of 2026 "pretty rough," saying OpenAI "wasn't even in the conversation" on agentic coding, where Anthropic's Claude Code gained share. In the third quarter, he said, OpenAI's annualized revenue grew 70% quarter over quarter, driven mainly by enterprise revenue doubling. Enterprise now makes up most of its revenue, up from about 30% previously.

He cited a recent partnership with JPMorgan Chase and said OpenAI learned to help clients choose key milestones and prove itself a reliable long-term partner. The turnaround matters because enterprise is the main arena where OpenAI competes with Anthropic.
