Anthropic has expanded its AI for Science program, which gives researchers on high-impact projects free Claude credits, to science funders, societies, research institutions and individual projects. The program began in May 2025 and the company says it has supported hundreds of projects across biology, medicine, physics, chemistry, climate science and mathematics.

Named partners include the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the Simons Foundation, Schmidt Sciences and the US National Science Foundation, plus institutions such as the Wellcome Sanger Institute, the Francis Crick Institute, EMBL and the Space Telescope Science Institute. Projects include FlyWire, gnomAD and AstroPath.

Anthropic also mentioned work with HHMI Janelia on a shared hardware standard for AI agents that operate lab instruments, now in research preview, and with the Allen Institute on teams of agents analyzing its open datasets. The page does not state the size of the credit grants.
