They held 215 seats going in and needed a net gain of three.\n\nDemocrats flipped many Republican-held seats, mostly in districts Donald Trump carried in 2024. Among the defeated incumbents are Brian Fitzpatrick and Scott Perry in Pennsylvania, Jen Kiggans and Rob Wittman in Virginia, Tom Kean Jr. in New Jersey, Gabe Evans in Colorado and Victoria Spartz in Indiana.\n\nIncoming House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries said voters want \"transformational change\" and named priorities: reversing Medicaid cuts, extending Affordable Care Act credits, restoring congressional authority over tariffs and stopping the Iran war.
