> ExxonMobil earned $4.23 per share in Q3, beat estimates, raised its dividend 4% and plans about $20 billion of 2027 buybacks.

ExxonMobil reported third-quarter earnings of $4.23 per share on revenue of $110.5 billion, topping analyst consensus of $4.12 and $104.9 billion. A year earlier it earned $1.88 per share. GAAP earnings were $15.4 billion and cash flow from operations reached $25.7 billion.

The company invested $7 billion, returned $9.4 billion to shareholders through dividends and buybacks, and cut net debt by more than $9 billion. It raised its dividend 4%, the 44th consecutive annual increase, and plans about $20 billion of share repurchases in 2027, subject to market conditions.

The results came on a day when disappointing AI-sector earnings pushed the Nasdaq lower, while energy majors rose on strong refining margins. Why it matters: the oil giants are delivering the cash-return story that tech stocks failed to provide this week.
