xAI's Grok published the first seven minutes of a planned full-length, "historically accurate" version of The Odyssey, calling it "Episode 1 of our Odyssey series." The footage was made with the Grok Imagine video tool in collaboration with Wonder Studios and director Dev Walker, and posted on October 23, about three months after Elon Musk announced the project.

TechCrunch's review called the result better than expected, with a few moments that could pass for real footage. It also criticized the stilted dialogue, a dragging voiceover and a lack of momentum and human interest.

The release invites comparison with Christopher Nolan's live-action The Odyssey, a nearly three-hour film shot largely practically across six countries with thousands of cast and crew. It opened in July and is seen as a likely Oscar contender. The full AI version has not yet been released.
