> Chinese tech giants reportedly ordered over 3 million Nvidia RTX PRO 5500 cards, but Nvidia warns buyers may get only 5-10% of their orders.

ByteDance, Alibaba and Tencent have placed orders worth more than $35 billion for Nvidia's RTX PRO 5500 cards, covering over three million units, Reuters reported on October 20. The chips are professional workstation processors rather than Nvidia's top data-center accelerators, and buyers reportedly want them mainly for AI inference.

The card remains available under current U.S. export restrictions. Nvidia has warned it cannot guarantee the requested quantities, and some buyers may receive only 5% to 10% of what they ordered. Commercial deliveries are expected to begin in the first quarter of 2027, subject to manufacturing capacity and applicable restrictions.

The $35 billion figure is potential demand, not recognized Nvidia revenue. It shows how strongly Chinese tech giants are still seeking Nvidia hardware despite export controls.
