The storm had earlier peaked near Category 5 strength before weakening.\n\nForecasters expect Polo to cross the peninsula overnight and move inland over southern Sonora on Tuesday morning, remaining a hurricane through a second landfall on mainland Mexico. Hurricane warnings cover parts of both coasts of Baja California Sur and the mainland.\n\nThe NHC warns of 6-12 inches of rain across Baja California Sur and 4-8 inches in Sonora, plus significant storm surge and dangerous surf. Authorities closed harbors and restricted beach access, and moisture from the system could reach Texas."}}
