> Trump rejected Iran's offer to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, sending oil prices sharply higher and global stocks lower.

President Trump rejected an Iranian proposal for a seven-day ceasefire that would have reopened the Strait of Hormuz. "I reject their proposal," Trump said, telling Axios that Tehran "want to make a deal, but it is not the deal that I want to make."

Iran had offered to reopen the strategic waterway and restart nuclear talks within seven days in exchange for an end to the U.S. naval blockade, the lifting of oil sanctions, and the release of frozen Iranian assets. Trump told aides he expects U.S. strikes on Iran to resume after November's midterm elections, the Wall Street Journal reported.

Brent crude jumped over 3% to trade above $107 a barrel, while WTI rose nearly 2% to above $94. European and Asian stock markets fell on the news, with South Korea's Kospi dropping 2.3% amid renewed inflation concerns.
