The round was led by Singapore's Serendipity Capital, with participation from Tokyo Electron's venture arm, Dutch research institute TNO, Prodrive Technologies and several other investors.\n\nThe company's technology uses microscopic manufacturing variations unique to each chip to generate encryption keys that are never permanently stored on the device, making them far harder to steal. Fortaegis says the approach is designed to be quantum-safe against future quantum-computer attacks, and that independent testing measured communications running 200 times faster than current cryptographic protocols. The startup has filed 17 patents so far, with 14 more pending.\n\nFounded in 2023, Fortaegis already works with more than 25 companies and governments across defense, telecommunications and AI infrastructure, and plans to begin commercial chip manufacturing in 2027 across sites in the US, Europe, Singapore and Japan. \"Security cannot remain something we add on top of digital systems — it must become part of the foundations of compute itself,\" said founder and CEO Boudewijn Wijnands."}}
