# Ex-Apple Engineers' Maven Robotics Raises $100M to Build Warehouse Palletizing Robots

> Maven Robotics, founded by two brothers including an ex-Apple engineer, raised $100M to scale up its warehouse pallet-building robots after two years of stealth deployments.

Maven Robotics emerged from stealth on September 10 with a $100 million Series A, backed by RoboStrategy, LocalGlobe, Vine Ventures and XTX Ventures. The startup was founded by brothers Hamza Derbas (CEO), a former Apple special-projects engineer, and Khalid Derbas (CFO), who has a private-equity background.

The company's wheeled robots handle "mixed palletizing" — building a single pallet out of boxes from different product lines to match a store's real-time order, a task warehouses have historically done by hand. Each unit moves up to 10 mph, carries two arms that lift 30 kilograms apiece, and uses vacuum suction grippers to move boxes. After two years quietly working with customers, Maven already runs as many as eight robots working 16-hour shifts for a large consumer-goods company, reporting 99%-plus uptime, and beat four rival firms to win the account.

The new funding will go toward building 250 third-generation robots and starting design on a fourth-generation platform, with plans to push beyond palletizing into broader materials handling and fabrication work.
