Lower daily doses showed no measurable benefit, and there was no significant difference between vitamin D3 and D2 forms.\n\nThe study, published in Sleep Medicine and funded by the National Institute on Aging, followed 54 adults already showing both sleep problems and mild cognitive impairment — two early hallmarks of dementia. Senior author Victoria Pak of Emory's Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing said the findings point to a possible early intervention window: \"This may represent a critical window for intervention, when cognitive changes are emerging.\"\n\nMore than 7 million Americans currently live with Alzheimer's dementia, a number projected to reach nearly 13 million by 2050. The researchers caution the sample size is small and the findings are preliminary, but say high-dose vitamin D merits further study as a low-cost, modifiable factor in early cognitive decline."}}
