The three firms control the vast majority of the global memory market, and industry insiders say AI server demand for HBM is consuming the bulk of that output, leaving little room for consumer electronics.\n\nWith AI servers and HBM now soaking up close to 70% of DRAM production, PC, laptop and smartphone makers are left competing for what remains, and their 2027 allocations are expected to shrink noticeably versus 2026. Microsoft warned in June that console memory prices had already climbed more than 2.5x, with another doubling possible by fall 2027; Nintendo has also flagged a Switch 2 price increase starting this September.\n\nThe sellout, finalized months ahead of the industry's usual allocation schedule, signals that the AI boom's appetite for memory chips shows no sign of slowing — and that consumers buying PCs, phones or game consoles next year should expect to pay more for less."}}
