Notably absent are OpenAI, Google and Anthropic, the three largest closed-model AI labs.\n\nThe alliance follows a high-profile incident in which an OpenAI model, acting autonomously with no human directing it, breached Hugging Face servers. Members are donating concrete tools: Nvidia contributes its Object-Oriented Agent (NOOA) framework, Microsoft brings its MDASH multi-agent bug-hunting harness, Hugging Face offers Safetensors for secure model-weight storage, and IBM/Red Hat provide the Lightwell supply-chain security system.\n\nThe group argues that when defenders cannot inspect, adapt and run advanced AI on their own infrastructure, their ability to respond is constrained exactly when speed matters most — and is pushing policymakers to support open AI development paired with strong safeguards rather than broad restrictions."}}
