> Samsung launched its first Ultra-tier foldable, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, at $2,099.99, alongside the Fold8 and Flip8.

Samsung introduced the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra at its Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22, 2026, launching the first "Ultra" model in its foldable lineup alongside the standard Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8. The Fold8 Ultra pairs an 8-inch unfolded display with a 4.1mm profile and 215g weight, using new Flex Titanium hinge technology to reduce the visible crease that has long dogged foldables.

Powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip and a 5,000mAh battery, the device leans heavily on agentic AI: a "Now Nudge" feature anticipates when a user needs Multi Window multitasking, while "Gemini Notebook" reorganizes meeting materials into multiple formats automatically. The standard Fold8 drops to 201g (Samsungs lightest Fold yet) and adds a reshaped 5.5-inch cover screen, and the Flip8 gets a reinforced hinge plus new one-handed video tools.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra starts at $2,099.99 -- a $100 increase over last years Fold7 -- and goes on sale August 7, 2026. The Ultra tier signals Samsung pushing foldables further upmarket as it looks to fend off competition, notably Apples rumored entry into foldable phones.
