## Overview

The Grand Anglo-Français Blanc et Orange is a French scenthound created by crossing local hounds with English Foxhounds. It hunts in packs.

It is used mainly on large game and is rare outside hunting circles.

## History

The breed descends from crosses between Billy hounds and Foxhounds in the late 1800s. In 1957 the various Anglo-French hound varieties were all officially given the name Anglo-Français.

It is recognised in France and by the FCI, and the United Kennel Club in North America.

## Appearance

A tall, powerful hound standing about 60 to 70 cm, showing Foxhound influence, with long legs, long drop ears and a long tail.

The coat is white with lemon or orange markings, the orange not appearing red.

## Temperament

Bred to work in a pack, it is driven, sociable with other hounds and focused on the hunt. It is generally not suited to being a family pet.

## Care and exercise

It needs vast amounts of exercise, space and purposeful work, and usually lives in kennels with other hounds. The short coat is easy to groom.

Owners should expect strong scent drive and a loud voice.
